Wash In Schools / Happy Schools Project
Join us as we embark on a project to change the lives of hundreds of children. We are joining the Rotary Club of Guntur Aadarsh, India, and Past District Governor 3150, Dr. Ravi Vadlamani, in an effort to bring drinking water plants and hand washing stations to at least 25 schools.
The Rotary Club of Waynesboro is sponsoring a special community presentation of Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) to be held at the Wayne Theater on Thursday, May 24, 2018. Admission is pay what you will, starts at 7pm, doors open at 6pm.
The demonstration will be conducted by the Blue Ridge Crisis Intervention Team to provide the audience with an overview of mental health issues. In the dramatic presentation, the actual dynamics of a crisis intervention are acted out. The emotion and danger are presented in real time for our live audience. These intervention exercises help officers avoid unnecessary shootings.
Understanding the stigma of mental illness, basic concepts of mental health, special populations, verbal de-escalation skills, and introduction of local and regional services and resources are all part of the training.

Riseley’s theme, Rotary: Making a Difference. “Whether we’re building a new playground or a new school, improving medical care or sanitation, training conflict mediators or midwives, we know that the work we do will change people’s lives — in ways large and small — for the better.”
